Frequently Asked Questions
-
Your first counselling session is a supportive, low-pressure space designed to help you feel comfortable and understood. We’ll start by getting to know you. What brought you to counselling, what you’ve been struggling with, and what you’re hoping to gain from therapy.
Your therapist may ask questions about your current concerns, your emotional well-being, and relevant aspects of your life or history. This helps us understand the full picture and determine how to best support you. You’re always in control of what you share, and there is no expectation to talk about anything before you’re ready.
We’ll also review practical details such as confidentiality, session structure, and any questions you may have about the counselling process. Together, we’ll begin to identify goals for therapy and discuss possible approaches that align with your needs.
Many people feel nervous before their first session, that’s completely normal. Our goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and clearer about next steps, not overwhelmed. The first session is the beginning of building a trusting therapeutic relationship at a pace that feels right for you.

Yes. For many concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions, online counselling is just as effective as in-person therapy. Research shows that virtual therapy provides similar outcomes when delivered by a qualified, registered therapist.
For clients across Ontario, online counselling offers added flexibility, accessibility, and comfort — without sacrificing quality of care. Many people find they attend more consistently and feel more at ease meeting from their own space.
The most effective option is the one that feels right for you. Your therapist can help you decide whether online or in-person counselling best suits your needs.
-
Yes — counselling is an evidence-based and effective way to improve mental health, emotional well-being, and coping skills. Many people begin to notice small but meaningful changes within the first few sessions, such as feeling more understood, gaining clarity, or learning practical tools to manage stress and emotions.
The timeline for results varies from person to person. Factors like the concerns you’re seeking support for, how long they’ve been present, and your personal goals all play a role. Some clients experience relief relatively quickly, while others benefit from a longer-term therapeutic process.
Counselling is not about quick fixes — it’s about creating lasting change at a pace that feels right for you. With consistency, a supportive therapeutic relationship, and approaches tailored to your needs, many people find counselling leads to meaningful and lasting improvement over time.

In Ontario, therapists who are regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) are not permitted to solicit or encourage client reviews, as this can create ethical concerns around privacy, consent, and power dynamics. For this reason, many ethical and fully registered therapy practices do not have Google ratings or reviews.
The absence of reviews is not a reflection of the quality of care provided. Instead, it reflects our commitment to ethical practice, client confidentiality, and professional standards. We encourage potential clients to review our credentials, registration information, and the services we offer, and to book a consultation to determine if we are the right fit for you.
